LK Arava

Geobiological Art

liza4_edited.jpg

Lisa Krieg was born in Germany in 1984. Painting, writing and collecting rocks have been her favorite pastimes as a child, and accompanied her while she studied Anthropology in Heidelberg and Jerusalem, lived in Amsterdam, New York, and Bonn, and during her PhD and postdoctoral research in Mauritius, La Réunion, Cologne, and Mayotte.

She moved to Israel, Tzukim, with her family in 2020. In Tzukim, she has revived her passion for painting, and opened Studio LKArava. She paints the unique desert landscape and lifeforms in the Arava with oil, and also sells notebooks, bags, and coloring books with prints of her art. Painting is for her a way to explore the endless detail and patterns in the environment, to understand light and shadow and the interaction of shapes, and to express her admiration for the beauty of nature.

Lisa regularly paints outside “en plein air”, and loves how painting the landscape gives her a chance to get to know a place intimately. Her love for the nature of the Arava shines through every painting. In her art studio LKArava you get a chance to see her paintings and watch her work, and to buy the LKArava notebooks, bags, and postcards.
