The Vidor Artists' Colony is located in the heart of the Zuqim community, hosting 24 artists in a variety of art fields. The colony has studio spaces presenting art made with a variety of materials including concrete, clay, iron, wood, stone, wool, herbs etc. Meetings with artists are held at each artist's personal studios. Each studio has a work and workshop area and a gallery where works for sale are displayed.

The artists offer a variety of workshops that allow visitors a personal experience and the option to create unique works of art.

The Colony is also home to many therapists who offer a wide range of treatments for body and soul.

The main gallery presents changing art exhibitions, and the gallery shop offers visitors the opportunity to purchase works of art, made by Colony artists, learn interesting regional information and enjoy coffee and cake.

The Colony operates in buildings that were used in the 1970s by the Nahal holdings. The  Nahal soldiers that once resided here established the nearby moshav communities of Paran and Tzofar. Alongside the development of Zuqim during the last decade, during which many artisans chose to join the community, these buildings were gradually attended to and renovated to form today’s Artists' Colony.

In 2020, thanks to a donation from: The Vidor family from Sydney, Australia (JNF Australia), the Ministry of Tourism, the Ministry of Agriculture, the JNF and the Dead Sea Protection Society, the Colony complex was renovated and made accessible for the benefit of the disabled, and the main gallery opened its door to display a wide range of vibrant and changing art exhibitions.

We invite you to come and personally meet local artisans, their workshops and galleries, learn about the unique settlement story of the Arava and enjoy their impressive creations, in  the heart of the desert.
