Gali Klein was born in 1975 in Kfar Saba. At the age of 25, she began training with carpenter Motti Sadeh of Harashei Etz carpentry in Batzra. “I answered a newspaper ad seeking a young carpenter and from that point forward, I was by his side for three years, from six in the morning until ten at night. I learned so much from him.” Gali worked at different carpentry shops until she reached the Arava fifteen years ago. Today, she is the owner of a carpentry shop in the Sapir Industrial Zone, in addition to her studio Nagarita in the Zuqim artists’ colony, where she explores the materials in her personal line of design. “I love paying attention to details and creating delicate elements.” Recently, she has started embroidering wax-coated strands into plywood, and into the lighting fixtures that she designs. “For my work on lights and shelves in the studio, I select boards with flaws. Every such ‘flaw’ in the wood becomes a highlight of the work—like a special gem in a piece of jewelry.”
