Toshan

Multidisciplinary Art

תושאן.jpg

Toshan was born in 1966 in Herzliya. He set out on a journey across the world at the age of 21, and spent many years in the Far East. “I developed my creative techniques in the natural settings of Thailand and India, in forests, islands—in places where a person has time to look inward and outward.” The motivation and inspiration for his work comes from nature, and he finds his raw materials in the natural environment around him. In Thailand, he created with coconut shells—here at Zuqim, he collects desert treasures for his artwork: stones, rocks, branches, fossilized roots, and more. His studio in the artists’ colony is an exhibit in and of itself. A harmonious setting where colourful fish swim in a clear pool to the sounds of running water, and green plants grow against the backdrop of local stones set in the walls and flooring. The studio features desert wind chimes, leather bags, and jewelry designed by the artist.
